Appeal To Lagos State Government To Construct Alternative Route For Proposed Dangote Refinery

3:34 AM

The proposed Dangote refinery slated to be located at the Lagos Free Trade Zone will undoubtedly boost the economic activities of the Lekki-Epe area but a major issue that Lagosians especially those living in that area may have to contend with is road traffic gridlock. naijacelebritynews.blogspot.com gathered from sources close to the project that about 3000 trailers will take that route daily when the refinery is completed. The trailers, our sources, disclosed will evacuate products from the refinery, petro-chemical and fertilizer plants to different locations across the country on a daily basis. The Lekki free zone is a multi-use facility with zones for oil and gas, industry, manufacturing, business and financial, media centres, commercial, real estate, recreation and tourism. Even without the refinery, the traffic situation on the route especially during the morning and evening rush hours is very hectic. With more residential estates springing up and more people moving to the Lekki-Ajah-Epe axis, the traffic situation is increasingly already getting more unbearable. SEE MORE AFTER CUT>>>>
Some Lagosians have therefore expressed the fear that if effective plans are not immediately put in place by the Lagos State government, the excruciating road traffic condition on the Apapa – Agege Express road would be a child’s play compared to what would be experienced on the Lekki-Ajah-Epe route when the refinery fully comes on stream.  According to a Management Consultant, Mr. Henry Agbebire who resides in Ajah, without an alternative road, the Lekki- Epe road is going to be very congested. Without the 3000 trailers, the road is already getting clogged.
