Comedy skits are more popular than Music videos. Ask any group of Nigerians how they do to relax, and chances are that many will say music, movies or comedy. So it is no surprise that these categories continue to top the list of the most watched videos on YouTube in Nigeria. Today, we take a look at the Top 10 YouTube videos and moments that Nigerians found most interesting in the first quarter of 2014. Music maintained the Number 1 overall position with Davido’s hit track ‘Aye’ emerging as the most viewed YouTube video of the quarter! The video, which was directed by top Nigerian video director Clarence Peters, generated over 300k views in the first week alone- proof that Nigerians still love music as much as ever. Also on the list are the videos of Tuface Idibia’s 2012 single ‘Rainbow’ and Flavour N’abania ‘Ikwokrikwo’ video, which featured 2013 Big Brother Africa winner, Dilish Matthews. However, while music remains a big passion for many, Comedy skits are gradually finding their place into Nigerians’ playlists. Solange Knowles allegedly punching and kicking Jay Z after the Met Gala was released on Monday. Since then, the question is who is Solange aside from being Beyonce's younger sister.The 27-year-old who has worked to separate herself from her iconic older sister is now linked in a negative way to her and her husband. The video shows Knowles walking up to the rapper and brother-in-law and then punching and kicking him, while a bodyguard does his best to hold her back. The trio said they have worked through their differences and moved on since the video emerged this week showing Solange kicking Jay Z as Beyonce looked on."As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. It was the first comment the performers had made since the website TMZ posted the 3-minute video on Monday, saying it was shot last week inside the Standard Hotel. The video, which does not have audio, shows Solange attacking Jay Z in Beyonce's presence; a security guard intervenes. The footage shows the performers in the outfits they wore to the Met Gala. Those who said they have seen the video, including CNN reporters, say it seems the girls were speaking under duress. In the video, Boko Haram leader Shekau said he’s willing to exchange the girls for its members in prison. D’banj, Sound Sultan, Olamide, Flavour Nominated At NMVAs 2013

The biggest fight at this year’s Nigerian Video Music Awards (NMVA) will be for ‘Video of the Year‘ which fields D’banj (Don’t tell me nonsense), Sound Sultan (Natural something), Flavour (Ada ada), Olamide(Duro soke) and Chidinma (Emi ni baller). Interestingly, four out of the five aforementioned videos were directed by Clarence Peters who’s had quite a busy year. Budding video director Matt Max however leads this year’s nominations with four nods followed by D’banj, Iyanya, Olamide and Clarence Peters with three each.
