Why Nigeria's In Diaspora Won’t Return Home

3:50 AM Add Comment

There has been an enormous increase of U.S immigrants going back to their native countries to start up their own businesses. It is safe to say over the past decade the countries grouped in the BRICS have been fortunate to receive a brain-gain, as many of their best and brightest have seen their own countries as land of opportunities.
On one of my social media networks I spotted a comment that said “By the time Africans get featured in an article like this the gold rush will be over.” Of course you can easily interpret this statement in several ways but it spoke volumes about how Africans tend to always be last in everything.
The Political Climate: The political climate in Nigeria is one of the number top reasons why the Nigerian Diaspora refuse to go back to Nigeria. Despite a democratic society, the political system is still full of corruption and lack of transparency.

If we compare our political history to a developing country such as Malaysia you will see some similarity as both countries received independence two years apart from each other from British rule. Even in the 1960’s Nigeria was ahead of Malaysia economically wise and had vast more natural resources. If we compare both countries as of today, Malaysia has been able to pull ahead in terms of development. In Malaysia, a person can literally start a business in less of week versus Nigeria which is 30 plus days. Interestingly enough there is an increasing Nigerian base in Malaysia. In other countries hard work can actually turn into a successful business like Chris Aire who has created a jewelry empire or Kase Lawal a well known business man in the oil sector. In Nigeria there are many businesses thriving based off their own work, but as well just as many growing because of ties these companies have with the government. SEE MORE REASONS AFTER CUT>>>>>>>>

Nigeria's 2015 Presidential Election May Not Hold

12:44 AM 1 Comment

Alhaji Balarabe Musa, is worried that there appears to be a conspiracy to stop the 2015 presidential election. The Veteran politician and second republic governor of old Kaduna State,
Balarabe, in this interview, also speaks on the insecurity challenge the nation is facing, the hostilities between Fulani hersdmen and locals in some parts of Nigeria, and the on-going National Conference which he describes as President Goodluck Jonathan’s strategic committee. How do you see the clashes  between Fulani herdsmen and their host communities, the most recent of which is the clash in Benue State that saw Governor Suswan narrowly escaping death?
The latest we have now is the problem of criminal activities beyond cattle rearing and it’s becoming an insurgency which is worse than Boko-Haram.
Some people are of the opinion that the alleged violent herdsmen are Boko-Haram members  in disguise? SEE MORE AFTER CUT>>>>>>>

Presidential Media Chat: Some Of The Matters President Jonathan Discussed

12:27 AM Add Comment

The Summary of the 7th edition of Presidential Media Chat that held last nite goes thus: issues discussed is the missing school girls. President Jonathan said wherever the girls are, the military would get them. He said security personnel are working round the clock to rescue the girls and also pleaded with parents and guardians of the missing girls to cooperate with them to get the girls freed. He said no negotiation has taken place because no one or group has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping. On reports of them being married off, the president said "To who?". He said the Principal of the school told him that 53 of the girls have escaped from the kidnappers.

On people comparing the Niger Delta militants with Boko Haram men, he said the BH men are faceless and so makes it difficult to even have discussions with them. He said he first met Niger Delta warlords like Asari Dokubo in the state house in a meeting called by former Pres. Olusegun Obasanjo and the militant leaders were there to lay down their grieviances. He said Boko Haram men are terrorists as their ideology is different from that of the Niger Delta militants as those ones do not go about bombing market places and killing people. He said a lot more.
On rumours of helicopters dropping food stuff for boko haram members, he said no one has come out with pictures to authenticate these claims. He said "One does not need network to take pictures" but no one has been able to take any picture showing helicopters dropping foodstuff'. SEE MORE AFTER CUT>>>>>>

Electricity Distribution Companies (Discos) have been ordered by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to immediately end reckless billing of consumers across the country. The directive was handed at the April CEOs meeting in Abuja by the Chairman of NERC, Dr. Sam Amadi. Briefing journalist at the end of the monthly meeting with generation, distribution and transmission companies, Amadi stated that that the Discos were still engaging in arbitrary billing to which they must put an end. He stated that it is their responsibility to provide customers with pre-paid meters, adding that in the absence of meters, the Discos must ensure that estimated billing follow the guidelines provided by the NERC. “We have made it very clear that it is the responsibility of the Discos to meter the customers even though we have time gap to bridge the metering deficit but we want to see real action on that. We expect to see a robust metering plan but we have also insisted that in the interim before everybody is metered, the reckless estimation must stop immediately,” Amadi said. National Conference: Call For True Federalism & Other Matters Seek Extension.

9:07 AM Add Comment

The National Conference Committee on Political Restructuring and Forms of Government have all agreed that the SouthEast zone should be at par with others. The Southeast has five states; others zones have a minimum of six states. Jubilant Southeast delegates praised the magnanimity of the Committee. The Committee also adopted a simplified procedure if states wish to merge. Members of the Committee were unanimous in supporting the creation of additional state for the SouthEast. But Senator Nimi Barigha-Amange warned that the creation would lead to a deluge of demands from other parts of the country. This, in his view, may be difficult to manage at the critical stage. He said the viability of additional states should be considered as only five could be said to be viable of the 36 states. He said fiscal federalism would put a stop to agitation for state creation.

Senator Ahmed Aruwa said the Southeast demand is legitimate as the request had been on for long. States, he said, should be created where necessary in line with conditions spell out in the Constitution. SEE MORE AFTER CUT>>>>>

Photo: Nigerian Police Officer Tied Up & Tortured Over Money

Police officers harass innocent Nigerians because of money, This is yet another classic example. Some policemen were said to have stopped a driver who was on delivery runs to drop telecoms equipment at a site in the Patigi area of Kwara Sate and asked him to "find us something".The driver said he didn't have any money to give, the police officers turned it into a kind of force, that he must at least "drop" and an argument ensued. As the argument rages, one of them shot the driver in the arm. Guys in the area got angry and went after the policemen. They escaped, but the one above was caught.. SEE MORE AFTER CUT>>>
