President Jonathan To Reply Obasanjo's Letter

3:18 AM

Despite their Recent meeting over breakfast in Kenya on Friday, President Goodluck Jonathan has taken his pen and paper and he is putting together what inside sources say is a robust response to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. First, the Presidency is in panic mood as to how Obasanjo got some of the information he disclosed his his long letter because they are top secret and it is believed that some aides to President Jonathan will be sacked in a bid to cover all leakages. The next line of action now is to deny some of the weighty revelations. Presidential aides saddled with the responsibility of compiling a response to the letter met again for hours inside the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday. Those who met included the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ahmed Gulak; Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe; Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Umar Sani.  SEE MORE AFTER CUT>>>>

A source said that, “The aides will present their work to the President over the weekend. By the time he goes through it and make corrections, the response may be ready any time next week.” Recall that in his strong-worded letter, Olusegun Obasanjo had accused President Jonathan of pursuing “selfish personal and political interests based on advice from his self-centred aides.” He also alleged that the President had failed to deliver on his promises to Nigerians and to curb insurgency and corruption in the country. “Nigeria is bleeding and the hemorrhage must be stopped,” Olusegun Obasanjo warned Jonathan.
