Globacom Pledges Quality Service As They Clock Ten (10) Years

Second National Operator, Globacom has reaffirmed its commitment to providing excellent service delivery as it marks its one decade of service in the telecommunication sector.In a statement endorsed by its Group Chief Operating Officer, Mohamed Jameel, said it has been an eventful and fulfilling first decade of operations, adding that it was grateful to the government and the subscribers for believing in the indigenous brand to deliver telecoms services. He said the company has since August 29, 2003 when it rolled out services, remained committed to providing its customers with world-class information communication technology (ICT) services through constant deployment of latest technologies, adding that this was in line with the corporate promise at launch that it would build a robust ICT network infrastructure that would consistently deliver value to customers. “Within its first year of operation, Glo Mobile became the fastest growing GSM operator in Africa, achieving a record one million subscribers in Nigeria in nine months. Today, Glo is the second largest operator with over 25 million subscribers in Nigeria. In pursuit of its pan-African vision, the company has also extended operations to Benin Republic and Ghana with footprint in other countries across the world,” the GCOO noted.
He added that the telco’s investments in technology, value added services and marketing initiatives have made it the first choice network for millions of subscribers. He said the telco has also impacted significantly on international telecom operations with the Glo Gateway, the International Wholesale Voice and Data Exchange and Trading Business Unit.
“Glo Gateway is a leading provider of telephone hubbing services for the rest of the world. We are the first operator in Africa to launch gateway switches outside the continent to carry international voice and data traffic. The first privately owned submarine cable, Glo 1, has also addressed the bandwidth requirements of West African sub-region,” the GCOO addded.
He said the Glo Broad Access, its fixed line arm, is gradually restoring the hopes for reliable fixed line telephony, with roll out of services in Lagos, Abuja and Benin. According to him, this will soon be extended to several more cities. Jameel reaffirmed the teloc’s commitment to the provision of world class services to its customers.
