Lagos is the fourth worst city in the world, Economist Intelligence Unit, EIU, an independent forecasting and advisory business within the Economist Group has said. And its top worst cities, are scattered around Africa and Asia. French Language To Be Included In UTME From 2014: Nigeria's Education Minister

Nigeria's Education Minister , Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufa’I, said on Thursday in Abuja that French language would be part of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination as from 2014 for interested candidates, the News Agency of Nigeria reports. Rufa’I said this at a reception held in honour of the French Language Project Manager, Mr. Jean-Phillipe Roy. She said that being multi-lingual in the 21st Century was essential as it helps individuals to operate more effectively in the international community. “For Nigeria, the study of French language is quite key, considering the fact that our neighbouring countries are French-speaking. Nigerian Copyright Commission NCC Arrests Suspected Cable Vandals

The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) yesterday arrested 12 suspects for transmitting illegally broadcast signals of Multichoice (DSTV) worth N29.3m in Awada, Obosi Anambra State. Director General of NCC, Afam Ezekude, told newsmen that the Commission acted on information and surveillance reports. He said they stormed the community and other designed locations with the help of armed security operatives, arrested 12 suspects for transmitting illegal broadcasting signals of Multichoice (DSTV) at a give-away price. Ezekude, represented by the Zonal Manager Emeka Ogbona, revealed that the total illegal transmitting decoders, transmission boasters, rolls of installation wires, with other accessories, were worth N29.3million. Big Brother Africa: BBATheChase# Beverly Osu Hospitalized

Beverly Osu has not been feeling well since the last day of the show in South Africa.
As you read this, she has been admitted into a hospital: Beverly was said to have sustained an ankle injury on the finale of the reality show while climbing the stage and I hear the situation was getting more serious than she had thought.

Beverly who returned on Tuesday night was admitted on Wednesday at FaithCity Hospital, Oju Olobun Close, off Bishop Oluwole Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

She is said to be responding to treatment. Fellow housemate Melvin and Uti Nwachukwu were some of the first people to visit her in the hospital.

Governor Danbaba Suntai's Letter To Taraba State Assembly; Femi Falana Demands Police Investigation

Senior lawyer and political activist, Femi Falana (SAN), yesterday sent a petition to the Inspector General of Police demanding a detailed investigation of the letter purportedly sent to the Taraba State House of Assembly by Governor Danbaba Suntai yesterday indicating he is ready to resume office. Governor Suntai returned to Nigeria on Sunday after 10 months away receiving treatment and rehabilitation for serious brain injuries he received when an aircraft he was piloting crashed in October 2012.  Reports say he appeared bewildered and uncoordinated as he arrived, needing help and not speaking.

The scene was so emotional, when Adamawa State Governor Mr Murtala Nyako was all tears yesterday as he visited Governor Danbaba Danfulani Suntai at the Government House, Jalingo. Nyako, who is the first caller since Suntai’s return on Sunday from the Hospital Rehabilitation Centre & Home, New York, United States, spent over an hour with his counterpart in his inner sitting room.  The duo sat on one chair. Suntai was wearing an ash-colour suit with a blue-black shirt. Amnesty Committee: Boko Haram Members Are Ready To Accept Dialogue

A report by the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of the security situation in the northern part of the country shows that some key members of the Boko Haram sect are beginning to accept to dialogue with the federal government to resolve the insurgency in northern Nigeria.

Chairman of the Committee and Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Turaki disclosed this to journalists at a world press conference in the Presidential Villa. I have nothing much to say other than to bless God for everything. I thank God for all that happened; I thank God for my boss, his support and love. He is a good boss and I appreciate him. As far as I am concerned all things work well for those who love God and in all things, the Bible says we should praise God.

President Jonathan Says Opposition Will Be Confused In 2015 :APC Also Responds

President Goodluck Jonathan has said members of the All Progressives Congress and other political parties will be “more confused” in 2015 if they think they can wrest power from the ruling PDP. Speaking at the 62nd National Executive Committee meeting of the PDP in Abuja on Thursday, Jonathan said any party or group that believed that the PDP would be rocked by crises during the 2015 elections would be “terribly disappointed.”

MTN Emerges Biggest Loser In Mobile Number Portability Scheme (MNP)

The Director of Public Affairs of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Mr Tony Ojobo, Annouced that MTN lost a lot of their subscribers to other networks during the recently introduced Mobile Number Portability (MNP) scheme. According to figures released by Mr Ojobo, MTN topped the losers table among an overall number of subscribers that switched service providers in the telecoms market with 49%; followed by Globacom with 23%; Airtel with 17%; while Etisalat came last on the losers’ table with 11%. Which means Etisalat emerged top in the number porting scheme among the telecoms company.
