Dear Governor, I am sorry to say that I am not particularly a fan of yours; however, I am not an enemy. I’d like to maintain my distance and appreciate your good works from afar and then curse some of your bad strides, from a very safe distance, over a bottle of beer with friends, when I am exasperated. You must agree with me that life is too short to want to engage in a political debate in Nigeria. I have heard you speak on several occasions. I have attended events where you gave lectures and speeches. You are indeed enlightened, I must compliment. But you are also troublesome, trust me. I like the latter more. Who would not? Un-troublesome people are usually puppets, especially in Nigeria. I hate to be one. I am proudly troublesome and I think we should start a league for the like-minds.

About your choice of words, in relations to your administrative job, which I’m sure also contributed to the faceoff between you and madam First Lady; remember once she spoke of your using the word “must” while dealing with her people? I think some of them jump out without preliminary refinement. I mean, you are fierce, but you should be considerate in your diction, this is not bad, for a man who studied English at the university. Creativity with words is a welcomed part of any grammarian. I am a grammarian too. *Smiles*

There was once you challenged me, yes, from a distance, of course. You said that Nigerians were too scared to want a revolution like it was in Egypt and Syria. I slept throughout the rest of your speeches that day at the Rivers State House of Assembly or so. The reason is, if one has witnessed war or bloody crisis, one would not wish for a revolution by Nigerian youths, which I am sure, would not go down without destruction of lives and properties. I have seen some of your actions too. Most of them have been tyrannical. Some of us nicked named you “General Amaechi” due to the use of forceful terminologies and lack of adequate dialogue with certain people. ASUU May Call Off Strike Next Thursday

There are Strong indications that the on-going strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities might be called off next Thursday.

Governor of Benue State, Mr Gabriel Suswam who dropped this hint Friday said ASUU and the Federal Government had reached agreements on all the contentious issues that led to the industrial action except two.

Suswam who was appointed as Chairman of the Needs Assessment Implementation Committee of the Federal Government said after next Thursday’s deliberations between his Committee and the various agencies of government funding tertiary education, all the contentious issues would likely be resolved. Blockade on Nigerian LNG Exports Lifted After Resolution Of a tax Dispute Between Gas Firm And Maritime Agency

A blockade on exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Nigeria has been lifted following a partial resolution of a tax dispute between the gas firm and the maritime agency, the company said Friday. “As at today, the 6-Train NLNG Bonny complex finally reached its normal operating capacity such that export operations can be declared as being fully normalised,” the gas firm NLNG said in a statement. “Consequently, the company has declared the current FM (Force Majeur) lifted to both buyers and gas suppliers,” it said. The exports were halted since June 21 due to a dispute over fees and taxes, blocking ships at a facility producing some seven percent of global LNG supply. 28 Wandering Soldiers In The Streets of Lagos Arrested

The Military Police on Thursday said it arrested 28 wandering soldiers in the streets of Lagos. Maj. Oyegoke Badamosi, spokesman for the 9 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Ikeja Cantonment, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos. Badamosi said the soldiers were arrested by the military police attached to “Operation Checkmate”,  to curb misconduct and unauthorised movement of personnel in the city.

He added that the operation was aimed at checkmating soldiers who go about without staying at their duty posts. He, however, said those arrested had been released after confirmation from their offices that they were genuine personnel.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, will meet on Monday with ASUU to address earned allowance and general university funding for infrastructure development. Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja after a meeting of ASUU with members of the committee on implementation of Needs Assessment Report to Nigerian Universities. Suswan is chairman of the committee, inaugurated earlier in the day by Anyim. He said an agreement was reached on many of the issues under negotiation except the two concerning earned allowance and general university funding for infrastructure development. Rochas Okorocha Releases 5 Billion Naira for ‘Youth Empowerment Scheme’& Approves 20,000 Naira Monthly Stipend For Unemployed Graduates Of Imo State.

Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has doled out the sum of 5 billion naira for the commencement of a ‘youth empowerment scheme’ in Imo State.

Addressing thousands of youths at the Heros Square, Owerri on Monday during the launching a youths empowerment programme tagged 'Youths Must Work ', Governor Okorocha said that under the programme,100 youths will be trained as pilots in South Africa while another 200 will undergo entrepreneurial training in Singapore.

In addition said the governor, unemployed graduates of Imo State origin will be paid monthly stipend of 20 thousand naira to sustain them until they gain employment.

Nigerian Power Ministers Promise 16-24 Hours Power Supply Daily

According to the Minister of power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, some areas in the country are now getting up to sixteen (16) hours of power supply daily. The dream of all Nigerians to have uninterrupted power supply will soon be attained, the Federal Government assures.
Nebo delivered the speech yesterday at the ministerial platform; also speaking, minister of state for power, Zainab Kuchi, said, "We can't exactly say when we will deliver power 24/7, but we would like to assure you that it will soon happen."
Prof. Nebo strongly condemned the continued vandalization of electricity installation across the country, calling on members of the public to join the government in tackling the menace. He said the copper wires the vandals seek are of much less worth than that of equipment destroyed. "In one of the discos, vandals removed copper worth N10, 000 from a transformer. Dewji, 38, a Tanzanian businessman and politician, is the CEO and leading shareholder ofMohammed Enterprise Limited (METL), one of the largest industrial conglomerates in East Africa.  His father, Gulam Dewji, founded the conglomerate decades ago as a trading company but ‘Mo’ as he is popularly called, now calls the shots.  He was solely responsible for engineering the group’s transformation from a trading house to a manufacturing powerhouse.  METL, which records an annual turnover of close to $2 billion, owns 21st Century Textiles, one of the largest textile mills in sub-Saharan Africa by volume. The group also manufactures soap, beverages, edible oils and other food products as well as bicycles and motorcycles. Other assets include an insurance firm, a petroleum marketing outfit and a container depot in Tanzania’s capital city of Dar Es Salaam.  The group employs over 24,000 full-time employees. Mo  Dewji is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and a Member of Parliament for Tanzania’s Singida Urban constituency. Photos/Video: Royal Baby Boy is Born To Prince William and Kate Middleton

The world has gotten its much-anticipated first glimpse of Prince William and Kate Middleton's new royal baby boy. In line with royal tradition, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stepped out of the doors of St. Mary's Hospital's Lindo Wing in London today to pose for photographs amid the wild cheers of the crowd gathered outside.

Below: A radiant Kate held the newborn in her arms. The day-old baby was swaddled in a white blanket and poked his hand out, as if to greet the world.

Kate wore a baby-blue polka dot dress with her long brown hair flowing around her shoulders.

The new mom then handed the 8-pound, 6-ounce baby boy to his beaming father.

"He's got a good pair of lungs. That's for sure," William told the crowd. " He's a big boy. He's quite heavy. We're still working on a name, so we'll have that as soon as we can."

"It's the first time we've seen him, really, so we're having a proper chance to catch up," a smiling William said. 

"It's very emotional," Kate said. "It's such a special time. I think any parent will know what this feeling feels like." "He's got her looks, thankfully," William joked. Kate quickly laughed and responded, "No, no, no."

As for the baby's hair, William quipped, "He's got way more than me, thank God."

Kate also said that William has already "done his first nappy," or changed a diaper.

Before heading back into the hospital, William said, "I will remind him of his tardiness when he's a little older because I know how long you've all been standing out here. I hope you guys can get back to normal now and we can look after him."

Scene of the crash that claimed the life of the First Lady’s mother, Nigeria’s police command in Rivers state today confirmed the death of Madam Charity Obah, the foster mother to Mrs. Patience Jonathan, the wife of the President, in an auto crash along East-West road in the state. The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO DSP Angela Agabe told journalists that Charity Obah was travelling with three other persons in a Toyota Corolla car with registration number ABU 153 AE. She said the incident occurred Monday evening along Isiokpo/Elele road on her way to Bayelsa State. The PPRO also explained that a 14 year old girl name, Favour, a student of Seventh Day Adventist Church Secondary School, Elele, also died in the accident.
