#BringBackOurGirls: Police Deny Arrest of Protester Leader

8:02 AM

The Nigerian police have confirmed “in an interview” with Mrs. Nyadar Naomi Mutah, a native of Chibok, whom it identified as a Deputy Director of the National Directorate of Employment, Abuja. Mrs. Mutah is widely reported to have been arrested today at the instance of Nigeria First Lady Patience Jonathan.
But in a statement by spokesman Frank Mba, the force described the encounter as “purely an interactive and fact-finding interview.” According to him, “Mrs. Nyadar cooperated with the Police in the course of the interview and was immediately allowed to return home to her loved ones. She was never arrested nor detained as being wrongly speculated in some quarters.” Mr. Mba said the interview was part of measures geared towards eliciting useful information that could help security agents in the ongoing effort at finding and rescuing the female students recently abducted by terrorists.
Boko-Haram today in a video by its leader, Imam Abubakar Shekau, accepted responsibility for the abduction of 276 girls
