Why Did Saka Really Port? MTN Vs ETISALAT

12:05 AM Add Comment

The Saka's migration has got People asking several questions; why on earth did Saka port? I People have been saying ‘I’m also going to port immediately.’ So I asked them: what worked for you in the commercial? Majority of says ‘we just love this Saka man’ There’s nothing as powerful as that cultural connection and that humanness factor we display as brands. As I watch from a distance the recent Saka phenomenon I can only bow to this timeless advertising principle. Culture eats Strategy for breakfast. Hats off. As the Creative Director who was privileged to have created the iconic Saka for advertising, I watch as this device takes on a life of its own and how it is gradually becoming a major case study in the history of Nigeria’s advertising. However, before I go to major brand lessons this should teach us, I shall quickly correct some insinuations flying round in our ad circle. Ad people can be their own worst enemies. Don’t take my words for it. Go see Mad Men. SEE MORE AFTER CUT>>>>>>

Etisalat Nigeria About To Sack 2,000 Staffs

11:47 PM Add Comment

One of Telecommunications Operators In Nigeria, Etisalat Nigeria, has announced the decision to fire about 2,000 permanent employees nationwide. Several sources confirmed the sacked workers were paid off. The company’s financial condition is not that good, it can no longer retain such an amount of the permanent work force. Therefore, it seeks to hire adhoc staff to run the operations of the company.
Most of those sacked have expressed surprise and disappointment over the development which has thrown them into the already saturated unemployment market. “We were asked to leave and our cheques handed to us yesterday, it is unfortunate that I am again back to the job market. “They want to recruit contract staff/new agents and they can no longer run the cost of paying those of us that are permanent staff, they claim,” an ex-worker of the company, who does not want to be mentioned, revealed. Another source went on to say the management of the company is insisting on hiring contract staff to replace those sacked but “it is unfortunate they had to send us home the way they did”.
