President Goodluck Jonathan I Never Said I won’t Contest 2015 Presidential Election.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday said contrary to reports making the rounds, he had never at anytime promised that he would not contest the 2015 presidential election.

He also denied the claim by Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State that he signed an agreement with some Peoples Democratic Party governors for only one term in office. He challenged anybody with a copy of such agreement to produce it.

Boko Haram Attacks College of Agriculture in Yobe Killing Over 30 students

This morning Sunday September 29th Boko Haram gunmen stormed the student dormitory of the College of Agriculture in Gujba, Yobe State, shooting students as they slept, killing at least 30 of them. The death toll could be way higher as several dead bodies were recovered from hostels, classrooms, bushes and corners around the school. Area Military spokesman Lazarus Eli confirmed the incident and said that security forces have been deployed to the school to protect surviving students until they can all leave the campus. Eli said the attack was carried out by “Boko Haram terrorists who went into the school and opened fire on students while they were sleeping"

Briggs Family Wins Maltina Dance All Season (7) Seven

The Maltina Dance All (MDA) Season 7 ‘The Evolution’ came to a spectacular end at the grand finale which took place at the Convention centre of Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos. After months of suspense, thrills, excitement and emotions. The tension soaked finale was breathtaking as the five families that qualified for the finals were locked in a battle of wits for the grand prize of N6 million, a brand new car and the title of ‘Nigeria’s number one dancing family’. In the end, the Briggs family from Port Harcourt, Rivers State emerged winners in what would go down as one of the most hotly contested finals in the MDA history. The five families that took part in the finals were; the Ikumonien, Ibrahim, Enweribe, Ebute and Briggs families. The grand finale which was beamed live across major Television networks, kicked-off with the families performing the first of the two dance styles of the night - Pantomime.

The Ikumonien family was first to hit the stage with an impressive performance that set the tone for the evening. Their performance attracted a thunderous applause from the audience. Next up on stage was the Ibrahim family. Much to the delight of the audience, the family danced to the 90’s hit song I like to Move itby Reel 2 Real featuring the Mad Stuntman. 

The Enweribe family mesmerized the audience with their dancing skills when they rendered a sublime performance of Zombieby late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti. Eventual winners, the Briggs family took the audience back in time when they danced to Felix Liberty’s hit song Ifeoma. Last on stage for the Pantomime performance was the Ebute family who performed to Rise up by Swiss artiste DJ, Yves Larock. The Hip-hop dance style was the final performance of the night. 97 Million Naira Used To Re-Grass Abuja National Stadium

The House of Representatives Committee on Sports on Wednesday expressed dissatisfaction with the renovated Abuja stadium pitch, Rep. Godfrey Gaiya, who led his committee members on oversight function to the Abuja Stadium on Tuesday, described the N96.6 million used for the re-grassing of the pitch as “doubtful”.He told newsmen that as a legislator, he was disappointed with the level of work carried out by Julius Berger PLC as there was not enough drainage to drain the water after the rain. “The re-grassing is just an aspect of the renovation and they said today that it cost them N96.6 million to do.

“My verdict is that I am not comfortable with the level of water logged on the pitch.

About Ten police vans are stormed the premises of the university of Lagos Today with  a couple others sighted on campus. The students of UNILAG began mobilizing via  social media networks late last week, inviting other students to join in a protest that would likely commence at the varsity gate like the fuel subsidy protest of January 2012, held at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in Ojota. The students want the Nigerian government to quickly end the ongoing lecturers strike by honoring  its agreement of 2009 with  university teachers, but other issues topping their agenda include requests for the reinstatement of Student Union Government (SUG) at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and reversal on the hike in tuition fees at the Lagos State University (LASU).
