Governor Babangida: Asari Dokubo Must Face Treason For Threatening Nigerians

1:57 PM

Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu, has said that former leader of militant group, Asari Dokubo should be made to face treasonable trial for threatening war on Nigerians if his brother, President Goodluck Jonathan is not voted back into office in 2015.
“When somebody will stand nationally and say if you don’t elect that person there will be war, I have never heard of that before. The security agencies should have arrested the man because that is what we call treasonable felony. Who are you threatening? People don’t win election by threats”.
Governor Babangida said this when he received in his office in Minna the Commander, Garrison Command, Army Headquarters, Abuja, Major General Obidah Ethan.
He told the army chief who paid him a courtesy call that security agents should arrest Asari Dokunbo for treason over his unguarded statement. He also said that the House of Reps should invite Asari to find out what he meant by that weighty threat.
Governor Babangida, who is the Chairman of the Northern States Governor Forum (NSGF) said, “This is part of the responsibility of the legislature; you have the right to invite any person to come and explain to you what he has said on a national matter”. Consequently, the House of Reps has directed the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, to investigate comments made by the presidential adviser on Niger-Delta Amnesty Programme, Mr Kingsley Kuku and Asari Dokubo, that there will be trouble if President Jonathan is not reelected in 2015.
Kuku was reported to have said in United States that there would be chaos in the country if Jonathan was not re-elected in 2015, while Asari said that Nigeria would know no peace if Jonathan is not re-elected for second term.
